Twynham makes his debut in the Formula Renault 3.5 World Series
Shortly after Emkay sponsored Cameron Twynham he left Team West-Tec and the Euro Formula Open competition and joined Comtec racing to compete in Formula Renault 3.5 World Series. Many F1 drivers have come from World Series by Renault so Cameron is most certainly putting the right foot forward or should we say down!!
His first race was at the German track Nürburgring July 11-13. Twynham had no previous experience of the V8 powered car so coming in 11th after starting at position 22 was a fantastic achievement! The young star's fastest lap was only 0.3 seconds off the race winners fastest, so Comtec are fairly confident Twynham will bring them some points in very soon!
We look forward to seeing Cameron in Norwich again soon with Comtec racing for a little celebration for this great move up in the World of Racing!

Emkay attend the 50th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone!
Emkay had the pleasure of going to the 50th Grand Prix at Silverstone! Not only did we get to enjoy the amazing F1 cars we also got to see parades of winning F1 cars from the past throughout the weekend driven by the "Best of British" including the likes of Damon Hill, David Coulthard, Sir Jackie Stweart, Alain Prost, Johnny Herbert, Rubens Barichello, Martin Brundle and more. This was a great sight to see. Silverstone has seen an array of legendary F1 drivers over the years and being there for this weekend really was amazing.

We would like to say massive congratulations to Cardiff. We have worked closely with Cardiff for the last two Formula Student years and also for other projects. Emkay's main contact Dewi Griffith has been keeping us in the loop with all the teams news! Cardiff were placed 3rd in the UK and took 8th place overall in Formula Student 2014! What an amazing achievement guys! Also congratulations to all of the team who went onto graduate! We are happy to announce we will be continuing to sponsor Cardiff next year as we have thoroughly enjoyed working with them. We would like to say a special well done to Dewi as he is now going onto do a PHD and will hopefully keep his hand in with next year's Formula Student team.
Warwick Racing have been busy since last year's Formula Student. Not only did they travel to Australia and compete in Formula Student Australia and build 2014's car they also repaid the favour to the team who hosted them in Melbourne, Monash Racing by putting them up in Warwick ahead of this year's Formula Student UK! Warwick changed their Black and green colours this year to Black and gold and I must say the car looked great. Unfortunately when we were there we couldn't get up close to the car as they were mid scrutineering! But it was nice to speak with some of the team! Following the race Warwick sent out this message to all of their friends and followers
"after a brake over travel switch fault meant an early return to the pits for WR4, meaning the endurance test could not be completed;
Emkay have thoroughly enjoyed working with Warwick and hope that we see you guys come in with a better result next year!!
This year we branched out and sponsored two international teams! The first one being Tecnun who are a team based at the University of Navarra in Spain. The team updated us after the Silverstone event with the news that they came 52nd overall. This was a great achievement for them after suffering some technical faults throughout the competition. The faults meant they could not complete the endurance race which is what placed them at 52nd.
The car looked amazing guys well done!
Thank you to Team Surtes for the lovely email they sent us with the update on how they got on; "Team SURTES would like to thank you for your continued assistance throughout this academic year, which helped us produce the most successful car Surrey has ever seen! For the first time since 2009 we were able to complete the endurance event at the Formula Student UK competition, which allowed us to finish as 7th UK team, 22nd overall, which we are all delighted with. After a troublesome week prior to the competition with two engine failures during testing, one of which blowing a con-rod through the engine block the day before we were due to leave for Silverstone, we managed to turn it around overnight using the little spares that we had, finishing up with our best result to date!"
ULM- University of Liverpool Motorsport
ULM sent us an email with the following update;
"Saturday was a pretty tough day for the team, we had gotten through scrutineering without too many problem and our static events team have done well coming in the top 30 for both design and costing and 2nd in business so we were really looking forward to starting the dynamics events. We had a part on the steering fail on the line of the acceleration and there was no quick fix due to the drill bit required, so we spent most of the day running around trying to find a solution, unfortunately we ended up having to get the part remade in Liverpool. We did get to race in the endurance on Sunday and finished the race which was positive, but as the car had been changed and the drivers were unfamiliar with the set up they took some time to get comfortable enough to get fast laps and so we missed out on a lot of points. We finished 36th overall and 12th in the UK which the team is pretty disappointed with, as the drivers said the car was much better to drive than last year and were putting in some very quick laps towards the end of their run. While Silverstone may not have been a successful as hoped we are confident that in the next month before FS Hungary we can get the car back to full working order and put in some more practice that will give us an opportunity to give a better account of how much effort the team has put in over the past year."
Despite the team feeling disappointed we still think they did great due to the amount of cars entered! So, well done to the team and Good Luck in Hungary we look forward to hearing all about it!
And the other teams we sponsored...
We have not yet heard back from all of the teams we sponsored! Team Fateh from Thapar University in India are yet to compete as they are heading out to Formula Student Germany in Hockenheim! Good luck guys we look forward to hearing from you! As for Mobil 1 Team (Uni of Sussex), UCLan racing (Uni of Lancashire) and BMM10 (Brunel masters Motorsport form Brunel Uni) we are still awaiting their final results from Silverstone! We hope they get in touch soon!
