Steve King and Paul Meek formed Emkay Plastics Ltd in 2000 and are Stockist for the distribution of Rohacell IG-F/WF and IG-UF foam in the UK and Eire.

Emkay Plastics Ltd has invested in a state of the art horizontal band saw. This enables Emkay Plastics Ltd, to cut Rohacell IG-F/WF/UF to various thicknesses and sizes, to a tolerance of +/-0.2mm depending on customer’s requirements. The blocks of IG-F in their raw form are 2600 x 1300mm and WF/UF is 2500 x 1250mm and varies in thickness depending on grade and density. Typically customers may order a 1.0mm sheet in 1250 x 625mm to a 100mm sheet in 2500 x 1250mm. Emkay Plastics can currently offer the following grades and densities from stock. 31/51/71 and 110 IG-F densities, also available are 51 and 71 WF. We stock a specialist type of Rohacell for modelmaking 51 UF (ultra fine).

With Rohacell IG stock in its raw block form now held at Emkay Plastics factory in the UK this now means delivery time has been dramatically reduced from a typical six to eight weeks delivery time from Germany to a next day service from Emkay Plastics.

Rohacell serves as core material for structural composites. Whether employed for prepreg, SMC or RTM techniques, they allow curing temperatures of up to 160c and pressures of 0.7 Mpa, Rohacell also offers the additional advantage of being thermo formable.

Rohacell is a closed-cell rigid foam plastic based on PMI (polymethacryl-imide), which does not contain any CFC's.

Used widely in the automotive, aerospace, wind turbine technology, boat building, sports equipment, radar domes, antennas, X-ray equipment, and Architectural Model making industries. It has also been used for the gondola that contained the pilots, in an attempt to break the world altitude record for a manned balloon, and is widely used by Formula One Grand Prix Teams.
